Timeline of Migraine Attack

Hello Guys, How are you? Today I will discuss with you some important points on the topic Timeline of migraine attack. There are many people who don’t know the migraine attack timeline. There are many distinct phases in Migraine attacks. All We know that migraine is a very dangerous disease which spreads rapidly in our world. Migraine has four stages: (a) ProDrome Migraine (b)  Aura (c) HeadAche (d) Post Drome Migraine. Migraine is the terrible and complex neurological condition that causes an array of symptoms that are nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity, threat of height and more. It’s a really bad experience for migraine sufferers. Sometimes Migraine seems to be difficult or impossible to predict but experts say if we had felt a headache of some similar symptoms would happen with us we take some precaution and prevent us from the migraine. So, Today I write some timeline of the migraine stage that may be helpful for you. 

From my last blog I got some questions about the timeline of migraine attacks when it comes, how can we identify them? and many more.  I decided that, definitely I tried to find out about their facts and figures. I always try to provide you with important information about health care. 



PHASE 1 – Prodrome MigraineFew hour to days

The prodrome is the initial phase of migraine attacks that  can begin from the days to hours. 30% to 40% migraine sufferers will experience this prodrome migraine phase. It is a warning stage that sign or indicate it migraine to come. The Prodrome symptoms are: 

  • Irritability
  • Depression
  • Yawning
  • Increase need to urinate
  • Food Cravings
  • Sensitivity of light
  • Fatigue and muscles stiffness
  • nausea and difficult to sleep
PHASE 2 – Aura Migraine –  5 to 60 Minutes

In this phase migraine sufferers best known for it visual disturbance. Some symptoms are also experienced in this phase. It starts aching in our head from 5 minutes to 60 minutes but it’s more terrible than a prodrome. It is a warning stage.  The aura Migraine symptoms are:

  • Visual disturbance
  • Temporary loss of sight
  • Numbness and tingling on the part of the body 
PHASE 3 – Headache –  4 to 72 hours

The headache phase of migraine is identified by the pain on one side or on both sides of the head. This is a very typical stage where migraine sufferers suffer from 4 hours to 72 hours. That can vary from person to person and situation also. It starts from one side of your head and gradually increases to the other side of your head.  There symptoms are:

  • Pain is in your jaws, eyes, sinuses and teeth.
  • Neck pain
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Chills and hot flashes
  • Depression and anxiety 
  • Vertigo and dizziness
  • Confusion and dehydration


PHASE 3 – Postdrome –  24 to 48 hours

Postdrome migraine is also called a hangover. This is the final stage of migraine. This residual migraine duration is 24 hours to 48 hours. Approximately 80% of cases come at this stage. More than  35 Million of people suffer from migraines but one few people talk about these diseases. The symptoms of Postdrome migraine are:

  • Fatigue
  • Body aches
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Depression
  • Light sensitivity
  • Reduced comprehension
